Our Pastor
The Reverend Sydia Bailey was born and raised in Kingston, Jamaica until the age of fourteen when she relocated to the United States of America. She graduated from the New York public school and soon after matriculated in her studies earning an Associate in Arts in Human Service at Bronx Community College and a Bachelor in Arts in Psychology at Lehman College in Bronx, New York.
From there, the Lord directed her steps to the Military Armed Forces where she served in the United States Army in Korea and Fort Lee, Virginia. After completing her time in the Armed Service with an Honorable Discharge, she worked as a Substitute Teacher and later as an Employment Assistant with Chesterfield County working with disabled adults in the areas of employment, self-help, and social skills. Reverend Bailey answered the call to ministry in 2005 when the Lord impressed upon her heart to continue her educational studies to be equipped for ministry. Reverend Bailey attended The Samuel Dewitt School of Theology, Virginia Union and graduated with a Master in Divinity in 2010 and a Master of Education with concentration in Community Counseling in 2012 from Virginia State University. She also received a certificate in Congregational Pastoral Care from the Virginia Institute of Pastoral Care in Richmond, VA; as well as a Certificate in “Caring for People God’s Way” from Light Learning Institute.
Reverend Bailey’s former pastorate include Harmony Circuit ( Alton & Clarkeville). Currently, Reverend Bailey serves as a Sexual Misconduct Policy Trainer for the Second Episcopal District. She also serves as a Community Based Counselor for National Counseling Group, where she provides clinical individual and family counseling to families with children who are at risk of an out of home placement, and mental health support services to adults with chronic mental health disorders.
Reverend Bailey is the joyful wife of Bryant Bailey Sr. and the proud mother of their daughter Samantha and son Bryant Jr who is known as AJ. She leads by example as a Minister, Preacher, Teacher, Counselor and most of all as a Worshiper. Reverend Bailey is grateful for the grace, mercy, and favor that God has bestowed upon her. She is committed to using her God given gifts to impact lives, and fulfilling every God-given assignment.
